Rachael - Vocals.PNG
Rachael

Born and raised in Calgary, Rachael discovered her love of performing through competitive dance.  From there, she delved into Musical Theatre, becoming a singer in the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede.

Currently, she attends the University of Calgary pursuing a BA/BED in drama and education, and is a teacher of dance and voice, and enjoys performing in her free time.

By day you may see her performing as a Birthday Princess, but don't let that fool you ... by night this girl is all Rock and Roll!

D'Arcy - Vocals.PNG
D'ARCY

Co-fronting The CONTRABAND is D’Arcy.  Not only a fantastic singer but an engaging entertainer and Front-Man.  If his great voice doesn’t get you on your feet, his over the top magnetic style certainly will!

Having played in Dance Party Bands throughout Canada, The United States and Singapore his experience and stage presence are world class!

Able to sing everything from Blues and Folk to Country and good old’ fashioned Classic Rock (The Contraband’s core), D’Arcy is sure to entertain you all evening long, and then some!

Cressa - Vocals.PNG
Cressa

Having originally launched her musical journey here in Calgary, Cressa temporarily relocated to Vancouver, where she released two great singles - We Got Heart - and - Look at Me.   Check out her video J Day - We Got Heart on YouTube.  She may not have the purple hair anymore but there is no denying she still has the chops and the moves!

After a tour of Australia Cressa returned home to Calgary and is now the very talented and engaging co-front of  The Contraband.

With influences including Michael Jackson, Robyn, Tina Turner and Diana Ross, she brings a unique and sassy attitude to the band.

Jason

The Song "Under a Glass Moon" blasting through the sound system at a rock club are what inspired Jason to pick up a pair of sticks years ago.  That transpired into a crazy fun trip through life writing hand recording dozens of songs, performing hundreds of shows, and making thousands of friends, and playing on 4 of our planet's continents.

But before all of that, Jason's first love was Mowtown and this is what has always inspired the heartbeat of his rhythms, which is exactly what he brings to his performances with The CONTRABAND.

Navarro.PNG
NAVARRO

Multi-instrumentalist Navarro  joined The CONTRABAND in 2020.  As a born and raised East Coaster, Navarro's 30+ years of musical experience has had him playing in a variety of bands and duos with no genre left unturned.

Besides performing with The CONTRABAND, you can catch Navarro on upright and electric bass with the very popular YYC Music Award nominees Steel & Timber.

When you come to our show you will instantly hear how his tight rhythms intensify the groups dynamics.

NORM

Norm!  Along with keeping the band’s beat smooth and steady, Norm brings with him his experiences, wit and incredible talent on bass guitar.  Norm may joke that he is the only member of the band to remember the live performance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show, but this 4-string-slinger is still ready to go.

Having performed in various styles of musical acts throughout Alberta and Canada from Blues and Jazz to Classic Rock and Pop, it is apparent that Norm is the Rhythm Master that keeps us right and tight.

Always the consummate musician, Norm is always pushing himself to be the best musician he can be.  A standard that inspires the entire band.

Jo - Keys.PNG
Joe

As keyboardist, Joe quickly established himself as an indispensable member, both by mastering his musical parts and adding to his incomprehensible wit to otherwise prosaic conversations. As a Child Psychologist, he also brings a calming and stabilizing presence to the band.

His work on the keys is instantly recognizable and characteristic of his creativity and boldness.  Hailing from Montreal, his influences span a wide array of styles, rhythms, instruments and time periods (but he only listens to Bruce Springsteen).

Terry -Guitar .jpg
TERRY

Always with a smile on his face, it is no surprise that Terry is one guitar player that really lights up the stage, as well as the strings.  Terry has had a guitar in his hands since he was twelve years old and played in his first gigging band at the age of fifteen.

Inspired by the likes of Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Billy Gibbons and Joe Walsh he adds yet another potent element to the band, consistent with the band’s talent and professionalism.
